My little sister, Brandy, ran away again. Where is she? What has she been doing? My parents said she only left with $10, what will she do for money? Who is that creepy, older-looking goth guy she's been hanging out with? Why hasn't she called me; it's been 3 days now. How long will she be away? I know it's been hard on her since Joy and I left the house, going from the 2nd youngest to the oldest. Trying to grow up and become your own person in that house... I've always been opposed to "tough love" and thought that it was hard on my big sister and I, but it's been even harder for Brandy for some reason. The girl has more nervous ticks and neurotic ideas than even yours truly! I'm really worried about her. She's just 14. My step mom just called and gave me a few of her friends numbers to try to get her to come stay with Aaron and I for a while. I may end up a mother sooner than I expected to if things don't improve; she may have to come live with us for good. Aaron and I have talked about this and I think he wants to help her out too. Poor kid.

I'm so sorry to hear that Brandy ran away. But I understand her desire to get out of a totalitarian household that doesn't listen to her. I remember many times in high school when you seemed to be near the breaking point, but you always had a weekend now and then with your mom to escape and be yourself. Brandy doesn't have that. Maybe you can work something out once you move to the city where she stays with you every other weekend?
She has so much creativity. I wish she could see past her current situation. I hope she contacts you soon.
love and hugs,
Cody
Posted by: cody at October 6, 2003 08:29 PMI hope she's doing OK.
Have you and Aaron considered getting a live-in Mormon to help her out with her schoolwork?
Posted by: sean at October 6, 2003 10:33 PMI share your concerns, hon. I hope that she is ok, and that something can be worked out to make her home life a little easier.
From all that I have heard from you about living in that house, I think I can imagine how tough it can get. You were fortunate enough to have a lot of inner strength, and siblings, to help you through it.
Keep us posted ok? I'll think good thoughts for her.
Posted by: kati at October 6, 2003 10:48 PMStill no word, no further sitings either... I've encouraged my dad and step mom to put up signs around her old high school (where some of her friends say she was yesterday morning) and the local malls, telling her to contact me. Thanks for your support :)
Posted by: Kristina at October 7, 2003 09:01 PMThe first time I met you, Kristina, was in middle school, I think. You seemed so smart, and you must have been younger than fourteen. I've never met your sister, but I know she must be smart like you...
Hang in there - she'll turn up.
this is terrible. i'm so sorry. i hope she gets in touch with you soon.
Posted by: michele at October 7, 2003 10:15 PMMy other sister, Joy, just called me and wanted me to check online if there was a street called "Cottonwood" or "Cedarwood" near my dad's house in San Jose b/c she had a "vision" that Brandy is on a short street, within 5 miles of dad's house that starts the a "C", ends in and ends in "wood"... hey, what'd'ya know... there is! I couldn't listen to her anymore... mostly because I have absolutely no belief in that kind of thing, but also b/c I would really like to believe it was that easy... that we could just drive to that little street and see her just standing there, waiting for us to come get her... but it's not true and it's not for real and deluding ourselves into thinking we have powers that we don't/can't actually have to help ones we love isn't being hopeful, it's torture.
