Thursday: It's the New Friday!

For a few years now, I've been noticing a work-place trend that seems to have been amplified in law school: Thursday is now the real Friday. Perhaps it's a trendy West-coast thing to get drunk off your ass on Thursday as if Friday isn't even there and then to ignore Friday by not going to work (or school), or just doing the minimum amount of work necessary to get through Friday... or perhaps it's people randomly claiming a virtual three-day weekend in a backlash against the fact that Americans have one of the longest work-weeks in the world (45-55 hours) and get the least mandated vacation. Whatever the real reason, Thursday is definitely Friday at my school since that is when all of the campus parties/events are held, always offering tons of booze guaranteed to prevent me from doing any reading on Thursday night. Every other Thursday, there's a kegger on the front steps of the school, fondly called "Beer on the Beach", that starts at 3:30 and goes to whenever the kegs run out and that night's event (usually with a full or at least no-host bar) begins at a trendy bar in SOMA. I know this is because most 2nd and 3rd year students don't have class on Fridays, but as a 1st-year, the New Friday is really fucking me up... in more ways than one.
